bird nest

What do you think this is? Bird nest?Fluffy wools? Lucyriver bought this at the Satok Sunday Market in Kuching.

The lady seller said that it was made from flour and sugar. Lucyriver really had no idea what it is at that time. It looked intriguing. Two nests in one packet is sold at RM 1.50.

The mystery was solved once Lucyriver tore the nest and put it in the mouth. Darn, the two things physically are totally different but the taste is unmistakable.

Well, it's the COTTON CANDY.

sushi the king

Sushi King was the first sushi Lucyriver had in Kuala Lumpur. Therefore when it opened its first shop in Kuching, two actually, in Boulevard and tHe Spring last year, we were delighted and frequented it quite a few times. Food and service were still considered quite satisfying.

Tonight when we had our dinner at the Sushi King, Boulevard, we were rather disappointed as both the food and the service has not been up to the par. Lucyriver believed we were 'invisible' from the moment we stepped in, chose our table, sat down and flipped the menu.

Here are some of the food that we had ordered. The Japanese pancake, no bigger than a CD, with veggy taste.

A bowl of soba.

A plate of black pepper udon.

And of course, Lucyriver must-have, Kodomo Bento. Notice that the croquette is half moon now? It used to be a full moon. Truly disappointed as it is the best thing in the bento.

Most of the portion of the food have been cut down. The art of preparing sushi is practically not practised here. A good sushi would not break off when picked up with the bamboo chopstick. It is definitely a minus when picking up a sushi and noticing that some rice stuck on the plate.

And coming to the service, it would be great if the staff were more organised and systematic as we practically had to rush them several times and repeat our order. Even then, they made mistakes by kept sending us the maki(s) when we didn't even order them. When we rejected them for the zillion times, one staff made a restless facial expression.

Mind you, the sushi king was not even full with customers yet they couldn't get our orders right. Perhaps the staff should be more alert to the customers and not just lean there, cupping their chins like some kind of models. We don't need you to attend to us 24 hours but at least when we want to pay the bill, you will notice.

Do you think the croquette will be full moon again?

cocoa raisin bun

This came in just now in a courier service aka email. It's so delicious, virtually. Cocoa raisin bun. Lucyriver am not a bun person but this looks so TEMPTING. Wipe Lucyriver saliva first. Someone promises to make this for Lucyriver when we meet in December. So, remember your promise, you PIG.
